Rabbithole Gallery is pleased to present, "Obscure Object Films - Photoplays by Stephen Dirkes", an exhibition of
film, photography, sets, props and painting from the short films of Stephen Dirkes. Opening April 5th and
extending to the 30th, this will be the third Rabbithole exhibition for this internationally exhibited artist.

The short films of Stephen Dirkes best embody the historical term for film, "Photoplay", as they are composed of
thousands of still images to create an animated visual narrative. Working with still photographers, visual artists
and designers, Stephen's work combines and crosses the platforms of multiple art forms. Beginning his creative
life as a classical composer, Stephen often simultaneously composes the score as he edits his films. Frame by frame
and beat by beat, a film evolves as a tightly synchronized expression of both visual and audio rhythms and
structures.

The exhibition features several photo prints of Stephen's long term collaborator, photographer Tal Shpantzer, and
a painted story board by artist/ film maker Peter Bill. Also featured are installations of set and prop pieces by
Amerinkz, Caroline Pham, Ioana Popescu, Zou Chu, Pamela Liou and Jef Niesen .

Behind the HH Scenes: The Inspiration Behind our New Kiki Frame Satchel

I'm beyond enthusiastic to introduce our gorgeous new Kiki Frame Satchel for Spring 12! The Kiki is pretty much my dream bag, and this style sums up so much of what I've always loved about vintage construction meeting clean modern lines. When you get the design mix of those two worlds just right, you can create powerful classics that work for everyone.

When I began sketching our Spring 12 line, I felt that a ladylike frame bag would be the perfect centerpiece to anchor the rest of the line around. I wanted to create a shape that was simple in approach, but to update it in beautiful colorblocked leathers and bold hardware details to modernize the look. Overall I wanted the end design to read very clean and streamlined, but rich in detail.

Finding great frames can be very difficult...most of what's on the market is too slim or far too fussy and ornate. When I found the perfect frame and chunky fliplock hardware components, the final design for the Kiki literally leapt into my mind. I paired up two of my favorite leather articles from Spring 12 to create the perfect colorblock effect that I was searching for. A glossy vintage patent in rich colors is used for the body. The trim is our new 'rustic pebble' leather in neutrals to help keep the color wearable. I love how the Kiki Frame Satchel opens magnificently wide, just like a vintage doctor's satchel. For a mid-size bag, the Kiki holds so much!

To me, real-time functionality is just as important as the beauty of the design or materials in every design that I create. I added an exterior zipper pocket with a cute tassel puller (even ladylike ladies need to keep their mobile handy). To make the Kiki extra user-friendly, I added a detachable and adjustable leather shoulder strap. You can wear this beautiful bag in the hand, on the shoulder, or as a crossbody...whatever suits your mood, or your schedule, for the day.

That's the story of our new Kiki Frame Satchel, debuting for Spring 12, and I hope you love her as much as I do. She's quite the glamazon.

magical colours: Digging on Aussie Artist Dale Frank

I have a new obsession (there are many, yes, but this one is fiercely taking hold of my entire aesthetic)- the glorious paintings of Australian artist, Dale Frank. The color and balance are sublime. His work is entirely mesmerizing. I'm hoping to get to see a much larger exhibition of his work very, very soon. You can view other examples of his work here & here.

Fancy DIY collars? We vote yes!

Way cooler than that Claire's choker you rocked circa 1993- we adore these DIY fashion collar ideas from Refinery29. Besides, what's better than getting crafty on winter weekends with some bloody marys and your besties? The Glitter collar is our fave.

New Year Style with our Trophy Satchel

Hayden-Harnett's general manager, Ashley Mikoletic, somehow (somehow) always manages to look ridiculously cute, regardless of how busy we are or what the fickle NYC weather may bring. This lady would look amazing & polished in the middle of a tornado, for reals.

Ash & I were chit-chatting this morning about our holiday break and she mentioned that she's now rocking our new two-tone Trophy Satchel in tan/black. Totally loved her look, so I took a snap. I Love how she layered this gorgeous blanket sweater with a striped tee & bright, cozy scarf, our Madeleine riding boot in grey, and leggings. This is a cute winter look that I'll definitely be borrowing.
