Beautiful Darling

Dear HH lovers, fans & friends,

It is a pleasure to finally meet you! Perhaps our paths have crossed before in previous HH posts where I have non-modeled their bangin' leather pants, or you have heard my music on the home page etc. HH certainly shares the love. I remember my initial introduction to the brand thinking: how could a line this young feel so classic, yet still appeal to me? a girl who mostly wears Vans and a hoodie (with the occasional slip into decadence, of course).

For me, anything in life that feels effortless is genius. Ironically, this doesn't come easily. Be it fashion, music or a personality, you must truly know who you are and possess fearless instinct in order to evolve and still deliver with grace. Warhol Superstar Candy Darling is the essence of this mentality.

"Enough of this world," she said. "I want out of the real, and into the true!" If you are in nyc, go see the documentary "BEAUTIFUL DARLING - The Life and Times of Candy Darling" at IFC. She inspired the song, "Golden Glamour" in me and the "Beautiful Darling" scarf in Hayden Harnett (which I now shameless rock as a babushka - see exhibit a).

Like Candy, I too am a bizarre case of split personality, though hers was more deliberate and chronological. I sway steadily between rock n roll, hosting a weekly online fracktivist show called Space Camp Radio and being in a jazzyish band signed to Blue Note, but mostly I am a composer, writing whatever needs to come out. Here's a taste of my other sound:

It was lovely sharing with you today and I look forward to next time.

Till then - Vanessa Bley.
